Research and Planning: Genre Post

KASABIAN:  In this picture the band are doing a quite moody and straight faced pose. Their clothing isn't anything out of the ordinary and doesn't cause them to stand out and their look is quite shabby and shows that they don't care about the image they are portraying.

FLORENCE & THE MACHINE:
In this picture Florence has quite a mysterious look yet still maintains the straight face which most artists seem to perform for their photos in the indie/rock magazine. Her clothing is quite simple and by using the colour gold it represents a clean and almost quite innocent persona, quite the opposite from the Kasabian band. The grey background helps the colour gold and the colour of her hair to stand out a lot more than it would of done by using other colours. The image of Florence seems to be more sharp than the shabbiness of other artists like Kasabian.

ARCTIC MONKEYS:
The image of this band is in black and white. Two popular colours used for the 3 colour rule in the magazine of this genre. Once again they're using a straight face pose and a few are staring right into the camera, their stance seems to come across quite calm and relaxed. Their clothing is very dark and the balance of colour in their clothing is used well by having the man at the front in much lighter coloured clothing than the rest of the band.

TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB:
This picture is different to the others as this one uses a lot more colour which may represent a different style of their persona or a different style of their music whilst still maintaining the same genre. The two main featured colours in this picture are blue and red. Again being popular colours by choice, as you can see by my questionnaire, the colour represents a quite calm atmosphere which is also emphasised by their body positions and the expressions on their face. Their clothing is quite calm yet more stylish than the previous and looks like they taken more time and effort than any of the other bands above.

THE TING TINGS:
The medium close up and two shot of this band again uses a lot more colour than the others, however most of the colour is based on the woman. She is wearing a dark blue with a red top; bright colours which stand out a lot. The man is wearing a black and red coloured jacket, these two colours together and next to the colours on the woman don't stand out that much. Their poses are typical of the genre, being the straight face and conveying a moody impression. The background of the picture is white yet seems to have dirt in some places, this is representing the 'don't care' image.
